The computed tomography (CT) technologist performs computed tomography procedures producing sectional and three dimensional images for interpretation by and at the request of a licensed healthcare practitioner. The CT technologist acquires data and reformats it into images needed for diagnosis and for the performance of interventional and therapeutic procedures. The CT technologist integrates scientific knowledge about patient conditions, technical skills, and information obtained through patient interaction to result in diagnostic information. The CT technologist assesses and monitors patient vital signs, and takes appropriate action in emergency situations to maintain quality patient care. A CT technologist exercises independent professional and ethical judgment. Ensures a high quality of images produced. Responsible for availability and sterility of equipment and supplies used for assigned areas. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Graduate of an accredited school of Radiation Sciences.
Two (2) years experience as a staff technologist required.
Must be ARRT registered. BLS required and must be completed prior to end of orientation period.
