Duties
Works as a Psychology Technician in the Department of Behavioral Health, providing behavioral health assessments and individual and group outpatient treatment to high-risk behavioral health patients under the supervision of a privileged behavioral health provider. Patients are typically active duty service members but can be adult beneficiaries with complex behavioral health problems to include co-occurring conditions and moderate levels of risk. Participates in the staff development programs and behavioral health in-service training for medical personnel in the Department of Behavioral Health.1. Collects and records psychosocial data and assists with direct treatment and management of behavioral health patients with a variety of complex behavioral health problems which can affect the ability of patients to function competently at work, home, and/or in other situations. Assignments include the initial screening and assessment of patients, making preliminary interpretations of the data, developing recommended courses of action, and consultation with appropriate personnel. Determines the degree of severity, differential diagnoses and/or other complications, and provides treatment recommendations..2. Working with and under the supervision of assigned program privileged providers conducts individual and group counseling sessions for at-risk behavioral health patients in an outpatient setting (to include intensive outpatient settings). This also includes leading psycho-educational training on various behavioral problems that affect the behavioral health patient’s ability to function competently and across a broad range of client problems.3. Under the supervision of a clinical psychologist, functions as a relatively autonomous psychometrician in administering and scoring psychological test batteries (including psychoeducational and personality test instruments). Provides other assistance to program psychologists in assessment of patients. Enters patient-specific and workload data into approved automated data bases.4. Participates in clinical case conferences as a team member, providing information they have obtained about the patient, patient progress and program activities. Participates in program planning meetings to evaluate and improve program activities, processes and capabilities.5. Provides administrative support to the assigned program within the Department of Behavioral Health to include monitoring patient enrollment and participation, maintaining patient accountability and training. Ensures patients are checked into BHDP and administered appropriate surveys. Monitors the supply of psychological testing materials and coordinates the ordering of needed supplies with the supervising psychologist and the responsible noncommissioned officer.PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
