What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reading Specialist position at Delaware County Intermediate Unit?
The job of DCIU Reading Specialist for Non-Public Schools delivers reading remediation services to students in multiple grades and school settings.
Experience with collecting and analyzing benchmark and progress monitoring data as a means to inform instruction is expected. Pedagogical competencies in all areas of language acquisition (i.e. phonological awareness, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary acquisition) is expected. Experience with Fundations Wilson Language Program is beneficial.
Candidates should fully understand, and honor, school cultures based on various religious backgrounds and classical approaches to instruction. A successful candidate needs to embrace/seek professional growth opportunity to serve DCIU as an instructional coach to our non-public school partners.
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in related field, Master's preferred
- Valid PDE Reading Specialist certification required
- Elementary K-6 and/or English 7-12 certifications preferred
- Dual Certification with Special Education preferred
- Wilson Reading Program Level I certification is preferred
- Job-related experience
