Substitute Teacher Training (program to run virtually) 03/13 - 03/15/23
The Delaware County Intermediate Unit is offering Guest Teacher Training on behalf of participating Delaware County School Districts. Individuals who have earned a bachelor’s degree in any field of study are eligible to apply to become Day-to-Day Substitute Teachers. The PA Department of Education (PDE) allows school districts and intermediate units to apply for emergency certifications for qualified applicants. Applicants who complete Day-To-Day Substitute Teacher Training requirements are eligible to substitute in any participating districts and career technical institute on a day-to-day basis. Training topics include: classroom management, understanding diverse learners, instructional strategies, special education, lesson planning, PDE mandates and regulations, professionalism, and more.
This program is meant for people who are not already certified to teach and wish to obtain substitute teaching credentials.
The training will be a mix of live and at-your-own-pace training sessions.
Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States in order to be certified.
Minimum requirements:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Possess strong organizational skills
- Ability to function independently and reliably
- Previous experience working with students helpful
Program Details:
March 13 - 9:30-10:00 (One 30-minute Live Session)
- 7.5 Hours of Asynchronous online work (to be completed independently)
- 4.5 Hours of Live Virtual Instruction on March 15:
- 8:30 - 9:30
- 10:00 - 12:00
- 1:00 - 2:30
- The participation fee is $50.
- This session will run virtually. Zoom link to be provided by separate email.
