Overview

DNI is seeking a mid-level SQL Server Database Administrator who will be responsible for all aspects of operational support for SQL databases to deliver high levels of performance, availability, and security. You will also be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining efficient database solutions and ETL processes using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and other related technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Installation/configuration, maintenance, and administration of SQL Server instances for business-critical applications in Cloud environments, including: Securing data, Provisioning user access, Back-ups and data recovery, Logging and monitoring, Managing upgrades, refreshes and new implementations
  • Troubleshoot database issues individually or with other team members (analyze, solve, correct)
  • Create a performance and tuning strategy to resolve performance issues
  • Supporting daily operational needs of business-critical applications by ensuring that all Standard Operating Environment requirements are maintained, all compliance, version control/patching, disaster recovery standards kept up to date.
  • Work directly with operations team and help desk on database or Cloud related issues, as required
  • Assist with AWS Cloud infrastructure maintenance and builds
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours
  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages to facilitate efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
  • Create and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to extract, transform, and load data from various data sources.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including data flow diagrams, data dictionaries, and technical specifications.
  • Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Design, implement, and manage database backup and recovery strategies.
  • Perform database capacity planning and monitoring to ensure scalability and efficient resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with the development team to optimize SQL queries and improve database performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and incidents in a timely manner.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy by implementing appropriate data validation and quality control processes.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to the Business Intelligence and reporting team in leveraging Business Objects for data extraction, reporting, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document database requirements for new projects.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging technologies in SQL Server, Microsoft Power Suite, and Business Objects

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 7 years of SQL Server experience, including AWS and Azure.
  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience
  • Good knowledge of SQL Server technologies (SSIS, SSRS, etc.) Specifically, building/maintaining servers and troubleshooting performance and other technical issues.
  • Good knowledge of back-up technologies, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions
  • Good knowledge of monitoring tools (SQL Performance Monitor)
  • Working knowledge of PowerShell, T-SQL, Dynamic SQL
  • Good knowledge of Windows OS
  • Good knowledge of Cloud technologies (IaaS, PaaS, VM sizing, disk management, Runbooks, virtual desktop, PowerBI, etc.)
  • AWS Cloud infrastructure experience with implementations, migrations, and upgrades.
