SIMULATOR/ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN

Description/Qualifications:

Applies basic knowledge and experience to solve routine technical tasks and/or system issues that may typically performed by reference to Technical Maintenance manuals or similar documentation. Work and performance duties may require review by higher level Technicians to ensure compliance with accepted practices and/or standard operating procedures. Work being performed for the first time and any task for which the employee is not documented, will be reviewed by the assigned manager, a higher-level technician, or assigned shift lead shall review being proficient.  Receives training in device system and subsystems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Applies working technical/­non-techni­cal knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks in support of work on various devices, while following detailed work Instruc­tions that encompass associated procedures 
  • Receives technical guidance as required from supervisor and higher-level technicians 
  • May perform tasks previously accomplished and documented as proficient that do not require review or spot checks, though tasks may be assessed by the Maintenance Manager or Shift Lead’s discretion
  • May perform new or advanced assignments that may require detailed review for evaluation
  • Identify and replaces defective parts in electronic circuits and associated hardware 
  • Requires use of block drawings, schematic and wiring diagrams to trace circuits
  • Maintains required documentation of maintenance activities and corrective actions utilizing the Maintenance Management data base system 
  • Monitors and tracks the repair status of inoperative equipment
  • Records maintenance activities to include but not limited to, work order generation and status updates of repair actions
  • Conducts voice communications on phone, inter-phone, and radio circuits
  • Provides networking and information systems support on training devices and networks
  • Maintains device requirements, system design standards, tool accountability and FOD procedures
  • Implements basic modifications to existing simulators
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management, or shift lead

 

Additional Duties

  • Will perform additional duties in support of contract programs such as Electrostatic Discharge, PMEL, HAZMAT, Tools and FOD accountability, Bench Stock, etc
  • Performs logistical support tasks such as shipping and receiving, packaging, material control, inventory control, Maintenance and Logistical data entry


Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or equivalent and completion of a civilian or military basic electronics course or 4 years of comparable work experience in the aircraft or IT industry.

  • One to three years of experience as a flight simulator technician or equivalent
  • Candidates may also be pursuing 4-year technical degree in a STEM program
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
  • Related skill areas should include technical writing and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated technical writing and oral communication skills

Security Clearance and Responsibilities

Must either have a current security clearance or be fully eligible for the requisite clearance. Must comply with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures. May be responsible for proper classification and marking of all information and materials. Employee shall not divulge any information or afford access to other employees not having a need-to-know authorization. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. Will be required to execute company non-disclosure agreement prior to access to any controlled information.

Qualifications

Candidate must be able to perform all assigned duties satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required.  

  • Must be skilled at use and operation of test equipment, including torque wrenches, “O” scopes, frequency meters, volt/ohm meters, calibration test sets, etc.
  • Must be able to perform routine preventive maintenance actions using maintenance cards, work instructions and instructional manuals to perform daily system readiness checks, pre-operational and post-operational checkouts. 
  • Must possess skills necessary to diagnose and isolate mal­functions in electronic systems; align, adjust, and calibrate installed training devices; interpret mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic schema­tics and prepare simplified versions.
  • Must possess skills to perform calibrations, technical adjust­ments and interoperability tests on elec­tronic equipment; analyze operations, isolate malfunctions, and replace defective components used in installed devices.
  • Must be able to work team environment, or independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to drive a fork-lift, man-lift, or other support equipment as needed.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Must be willing to work any shift or day of the week as required.
  • Must either have a DoD Security Clearance or be eligible to obtain.

 

 

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the complex word and technical documents/diagrams.   Must be able to generate effective oral and written presentations as needed.

 

 

Reasoning Ability and Mathematical Skills

Must be able to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Must be able to calculate figures and numbers, prices, and percentages and be able to draw and interpret graphs.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Forklift certification (as required)
  • Security Plus or higher IAT Certification (mandatory), or able to obtain within 6 months.

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift and/or mover at least 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladders.
  • Must be able to accommodate confined spaces into a simulator or airplane cockpit.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top or under equipment.
  • Must be able to detect odors, noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect discrepancies of malfunctioning equipment.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Must be able to perform Domestic and International travel as required.
  • Shop floor environment.
  • Will be working in areas with risk of injury from electrical applications, moving mechanical parts, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems under pressure and Electrical motion systems.
  • May be exposed to conditions of extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.
