I. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is a casual position responsible for assisting the Captain of the Forts Ferry in the
Work is performed indoors / outdoors and can be in any weather condition. Work schedules can
be modified to fit the departmental needs which may require the employee to work shift work
and / or weekends. This casual position is part-time with no guaranteed minimum number of hours,
nor are there any guaranteed assignments.
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Deckhand must have the physical capability to tie up the vessel at each berth. He / she will
greet passengers on and off of the vessel and assist them if needed. He / she will collect tickets
from the passengers and bring them to the bridge once the vessel gets underway. Once underway,
the deckhand will demonstrate to the passengers how to properly don a personal flotation device.
