    Description: College, Career, and Community Readiness Specialist Teacher

    Terms of Employment: 10 Month Full Time Position - Temporary based on Grant Funding

    Salary: Current Teacher Salary Scale

    Starting Date: As soon as possible plus potential summer hours

    Reports to: Building Principal, Director of Curriculum

    This position will support the Capital School District's capacity for developing and implementing work based learning initiatives to provide direct support for students with disabilities in grades 9-12 by providing them with experiences of high-growth, high demand careers, and preparing them to make informed decisions about their high school programs and courses of study in high school and beyond. Students will be supported to develop relevant and transferable skills and knowledge so that they are better able to make knowledgeable community, college and career preparation decisions.

    Responsibilities:
    The College and Career Specialist’s key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • Facilitate Work-Based Learning experiences with a focus on supporting students who receive Special Education Services in all pathways.
    • Provide students with school-based or district based opportunities to build their knowledge and skills related to their Pathway
    • Monitor students by conducting site visit with employers
    • Develop and maintain work-based learning documents for teachers, students, and employers
    • Ensure completion of student assessments by employers
    • Create/identify, maintain, and train staff on a data system for tracking and managing student Pre-ETS, WBL supports
    • Develop training on best practices for building job coaches, including remediation when a job site placement is unsuccessful
    • Advise Special Education Teacher Case Managers on transition services to students in complex situations or cases
    • Create and manage career exploration sessions with middle school and pathway students
    • Create/identify, maintain, and train staff on a data system for tracking and managing student Pre-ETS, WBL supports
    • Collect and Analyze Pathways data for College/Career Readiness and report findings to the community partners and leadership
    • Report on major indicators (Perkins and school based metrics/indicators) to school administration, pathway stakeholders and community partners
    • Actively participate in quarterly pathway advisory board meetings and PLCs as required
    • Connect to and coordinate partnerships with organizations providing academic supports to students
    • Collaborate with counselors to ensure all high school students have developed a career plan in their lead role of Naviance (9-12) implementation to ensure all students have a college/career 4-year plan.
    • Develop and maintain close working partnerships and relationships with community and state agencies, area businesses, industries, high school staff, and labor organizations to ensure students are provided with the training they need including on-site training, guest speaking, service learning and internships.
    • Establish contact with, and provide schools with a list of partnering WBL opportunities
    • Schedule DVR Pre-ETS county coordinator for each school assigned.
    • Work collaboratively with the CTE team to accomplish large scale projects and adhere to clear deadlines.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
    • Must be eligible for State of Delaware Certification as a teacher of Special Education with CTE certification preferred.
    • 3 or more years of experience in a professional or educational setting serving students with disabilities with additional preferred experience in transition supports.
    • Able to travel extensively within the surrounding area to make relevant contacts (as needed).
    • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and communication skills.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

    Standard Requirements:
    • Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment
    • Tuberculin Test and physical
    • Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck
