The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.
Role Summary
The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician inspects, tests, repairs, and maintains the electrical and instrumentation systems in a safe manner within the Refinery. This role must be able to maintain and repair equipment according to service manuals, company procedures or process and instrumentation diagrams.
Job Accountabilities
* Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
* Personally adhere to and enforce all safety procedures and policies, to include but no limited to hot work, confined space, and lockout/tag-out
* Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate and maintain electrical equipment and systems of varying voltages including but not limited to 110V through 13,800V
* Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate and maintain electrical equipment including but not limited to: motors (all types), starters, breakers, transformers, isolation switches, relays, fuses, resistors, process valves, AC Drives, DC Drives, electrical cable, fiber optic cable, coaxial cable, conduit, receptacles, PLC's, heaters, control panels, lights & lighting panels, cranes or other lifting devices, distributive controls, UPS, fire & emergency alarms, turbine controls, disposal of bulbs and other hazardous material, open and close shutters on nuclear devices, cable trays, and electrostatic precipitators
* Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation equipment including but not limited to: transmitters (all types), valves, I/P, positioners, actuators, dampers, flow meters, tubing, O2, PH, conductivity, RTD, thermocouple, and infrared • Lead repairs and calibration of electrical equipment and preventive maintenance on a wide variety of electro-mechanical equipment • Install, implement and maintain new control systems as needed
* Troubleshoot, repair, and/or calibrate all refinery electrical and instrumentation systems
* Responsible for completing work orders and all other assignments as assigned
* Works effectively without supervision
* Communicates well with employees from all areas of the facility
* Utilize computer to document work performed in CMMS System
* Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
* High School diploma or GED and three (3) years of electrical and instrumentation maintenance experience
* Demonstrated safety training in an industrial environment • Proven experience with industrial electrical and instrumentation tools including but not limited to: multi-meter, amp meter, voltage tester, oscilloscope, megohmmeter, tic trace, hot sticks, wave generator, chart recorder, HART communicator, transmation, hi[1]pot unit, dry block calibrator, dead weight tester, and magnetic flow simulator.
* Ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical and instrumentation systems • Knowledge pertaining to NEC, NFPA70E and local electrical codes
* Proven ability to safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, man-lifts, etc.
* Experience with plant electrical and mechanical systems, analytical troubleshooting, electro-mechanical systems and equipment, motion control technology, AC and DC motor systems, PLC systems and ability to use software to troubleshoot and program and operator interface systems, line HMIs, marquees and bending & installing conduit
* Ability climb and work from scaffolds and man-lifts of various heights
* Must be willing and able to work shifts, call-ins, holidays, and overtime
* Solid written and verbal communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to read, understand and update electrical blueprints, schematics and wiring diagrams
* Proficient computer skills and utilizing several different computer software programs, including but not limited to Windows, Microsoft Office, PI Data link
* Ability to work in confined spaces and wear self-contained breathing apparatus or fresh air mask
* Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds and climb vertical heights up to 200 feet
* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
* Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening and drug screen
Desired Characteristics
* Associate's Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or Electronics Engineering
* Completion of an apprenticeship/journeyman program
* Five (5) years of electrical and instrumentation maintenance experience
* OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification
