The Public Relations Manager will drive media relations strategy, planning and execution for an integrated, portfolio across Deloitte’s Consulting offerings, to increase Consulting’s share of voice in the news media on technology with specific emphasis on new or emerging technologies such as quantum computing as well as other high priority issue areas. The ideal candidate is a public relations professional who has a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels of a matrixed organization, build and execute external communications campaigns for nascent offerings, effectively manage external agencies, and drive innovation and capability building to support the future of external communications and PR, with a focus on trends, data, and measurement. We’re also looking for a PR pro with agency experience and ability to take on new, complex issues and work with a variety of stakeholders.

What you’ll do:
As a manager on the Consulting PR team, you will be expected to:
- Develop and drive public relations programs that help explain how we are making an impact for our clients and position us to grow work with current and perspective clients.
- Manage external public relations agencies, tracking budgets, monthly reporting, and delivery of support to meet business goals.
- Proactively pitch media to build and nurture relationships with media contacts specifically with technology reporters, in collaboration with PR agency, collaborate on the responses to inquiries, and identify public relations opportunities to garner news coverage.
- Collaborate closely across businesses and industries to ensure Consulting messaging, reporter outreach, and signature issue positioning are aligned/integrated and opportunities are maximized.
- Develop media materials inclusive of press releases, pitches, talking points, articles, key data analysis reports and social media sharing content, and guide strategy for launches.
- Build and/or strengthen key reporter relationships, staying current on relevant news outlets, reporters, and their areas of focus, and proactively pitch Deloitte leaders, thought leadership, and client impact stories.
- Assist in the preparation of spokespeople and leaders for media interviews and speaking engagements by providing refresher media training as appropriate and facilitating and coordinating media training for spokespeople when required.
- Bring a data and insights mindset and work closely with Consulting PR team leader on analyzing and measuring overall PR team’s impact and value to the Consulting business.
- Bring innovative ideas to advance the overall Consulting PR team in terms of techniques and new tools.
Qualifications:
- Communications professional with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience.
- A Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications, English, Public Relations, or Journalism.
- PR agency experience is a plus
- Deep understanding of technology issues, with a strong background in media relations best practices, reporter engagement, connection and use of social media to amplify media coverage.
- Proven success in developing and executing external communications strategy and communications plans for a large business, preferably in professional services.
- Strong communication skills, comfortable managing to results - providing counsel, asking good questions, challenging the status quo, suggesting alternatives, and articulating pros and cons.
- High level of comfort with ambiguity and fluid priorities; ability to manage multiple and complex priorities efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to successfully engage and manage an external PR agency.
- Ability to make connections in a highly matrixed environment
- Strong collaboration skills and a team player mindset
- Strong listening and persuasive communication skills; able to gain consensus through influence and be able to pivot when warranted.
- Experience in measuring the effectiveness of communication strategies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Word. Knowledgeable in all aspects of Microsoft Office and ancillary programs
- Ability to travel 10%, on average, based on the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $114,000 - $231,000.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance
