Overview

·       Reports to the VP of Engineering.

·       No direct reports.

·       All employees are responsible for the technical aspects of the position while demonstrating the company’s core values (People First, Respect and Integrity, Innovation, Dependability, Enjoyment).

·       General continuous improvement, innovation, and change management.

 

Responsibilities

·       Make shop drawings, advance bills of material, data files for CNC shop equipment, and other engineering documents for projects as assigned, based on contract documents and DeLong’s standards.

·       Make job site visits to get field measurements, as assigned.

·       Work on in-house repair, improvement, or expansion projects at the direction of the Operations Engineer and/or VP of Engineering.

·       Assist Sales and Estimating as needed with design plan interpretation.

·       Assist Production by shooting elevations in the shop or on the drill pad.

·       Work with Senior Drafters, Engineers, and QC staff to solve problems when errors are made in the drafting room and in the shop.

·       Project Management

o   It is the drafting technician’s responsibility to maintain all documentation pertaining to the shop drawing preparation of their projects.  This includes filling out all transmittals and saving them in the Engineering job folder.

o   The drafting technician is to maintain all records of Requests for Information (RFI).  They are to be saved in the job folder and updated in the RFI log.  Senior drafters and engineers can help with writing the RFI’s.

·       Camber and blocking, and horizontal and vertical curved data, will be provided for entry level drafters, to be incorporated into drawings. As experience is gained, drafter will take on this responsibility.

·       Work with Senior Detailers and Engineers to develop geometry calculation skills.

·       Other duties as assigned.
