What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Underwriter position at Delta Dental of Michigan?
This is a remote position.

Job Summary: Performs underwriting functions to support Enterprise goals and objectives including new business and an assigned book of business on the least complex cases.
Primary Job Responsibilities
1. Develops an understanding of dental terminology, dental benefits, risk assessment, underwriting guidelines, contract language and the underwriting process and procedures.
2. Evaluates risk and develops, reviews and approves rates consistent with approved rating formulas and methodologies.
3. Develops and approves renewal rates and contracts for assigned book of business.
4. Determines and defines eligibility and approves new business rates, proposals and contracts.
Perform other related assigned duties as necessary to complete the Primary Job Responsibilities as described above.
Position requires an associate’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, mathematics, or a related field and two years of experience analyzing data and using mathematical and algebraic theories and formulas. A bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a related field preferred. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
Position requires knowledge of mathematical and algebraic theories and formulas and word processing and spreadsheet applications; strong analytical skills; strong organizational skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Occasional travel is required.
