What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN - Operating Room - PRN position at Delta Health?
Under the direction of the Director, Surgery Unit and the Chief Clinical Officer; following the AORN standards of performance and standards of practice, delivers quality nursing care to patients from ages newborn to geriatric on an assigned unit. Assures that patient/family needs are met. Provides for open communication within the unit, with patients, families, physicians, other units and departments. Demonstrates knowledge of patient/staff safety measures. Builds and maintains professional relationships.
- Provides direct and individualized nursing care to patients
- Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan implement and evaluate patient care plans
- Provides basic, bedside care
- Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol
- Preps operating room for patient/procedure
- Assists in positioning, responding to comfort/safety of patient
- Provides for accurate care and handling of specimens
- Observes and enforces strict standards of asepsis
- Observes, checks and monitors all equipment used during surgery to confirm they are running smoothly
- Handles patient documentation
- Inventories all items both pre and post surgery
- Initiates “time out” with surgical team
