General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer
SUMMARY:
The General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer (GC/CCO) is responsible for advising DMEA and its subsidiaries concerning their legal rights, obligations, duties, and privileges to ensure compliance with their governing documents and applicable laws and regulations.
The GC/CCO provides day-to-day leadership and oversees the ongoing operations related to Legal Affairs, Human Resources, Safety and Records Management. The GC/CCO is responsible for the development, application and evaluation of organizational structure, strategic planning and management programs, policies, methods and procedures within these areas of responsibility.
The GC/CCO will embody and promote a culture of safety and good faith. All respective activities will be accomplished through a respectful, constructive style, guided by DMEA's mission, values, and vision.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
Must at all times maintain a license in good standing to practice law in the State of Colorado. A valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle record is also required.

GC/CCO will participate in Board of Directors regular, special and, as needed, committee meetings. GC/CCO may be required to interact with the Board President or the Board of Directors on specific governance matters.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Position requires supervisory knowledge including personnel practices; budgeting, general accounting and fiscal management practices; office procedures and business operating systems; and the appropriate methods and means of dealing with human behavior situations in a variety of business circumstances.
The role necessitates, as related and necessary to its fulfillment, communicating effectively, verbally and in writing, in a diverse range of audiences and settings; persuasion and negotiation of conflicts and problems; assessing operational program, staff, and fiscal needs; interpreting legal documents and government regulations; evaluating fiscal and financial reports, forms, and data; analyzing complex written documents; identifying and resolving administrative problems; working long and irregular hours, and under pressure conditions; delegating responsibility and achieving results through subordinates; and maintaining order in an environment of changing priorities.
The position also requires the understanding and ability to interpret union contracts, agreements, and administrative and HR policies to properly apply provisions to supervising and directing the work of subordinates. The position requires understanding and using the concepts of effective performance recognition, coaching, documentation, and discipline.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking and use of keyboard/computer; and occasional bending, kneeling, reaching and occasionally lifting 25 pounds. Requires finger dexterity, good vision and hearing, ability to speak and the ability to perform close work. Office equipment used frequently includes personal computers, software, copy machines, fax machines, etc.
