One of our clients is seeking a motivated professional to work as a Teacher's Aide One-on-One in the Northern, VA and Washington, DC area.
SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
- Supports students with diverse needs in a school environment, fostering an inclusive and positive atmosphere. This role involves assisting students with daily activities, enhancing their learning experience, and promoting independence.
- Provide individualized assistance to students with special needs or disabilities, helping them engage in classroom activities.
- Assist with personal hygiene, mobility, and daily living skills as needed, ensuring the well-being of students.
- Support students in completing assignments and understanding instructional material, facilitating their academic growth.
- Implement strategies to promote positive behavior and assist with behavioral interventions as directed by teachers or special education staff.
- Monitor students during class, lunch, and recess to ensure safety and appropriate social interactions.
- Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and parents to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and any significant observations for reporting purposes.
- Participate in training and workshops to enhance skills and stay informed about best practices in education and student support.
- Primarily in a classroom setting, with responsibilities that may include outdoor supervision during breaks.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree or coursework in education or special education experience preferred.
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Capability to assist students with physical mobility and engage in activities that may require bending, lifting, or standing for extended periods.
