1) Position: Biomedical Equipment Functional Analyst

Labor Category(ies): BMET III, IV

2) Location:

Defense Health Agency (DHA), Military Health System (MHS) Functional Champion located at

Defense Health Headquarters (DHHQ) in Falls Church, VA.

3) Description: The Functional Champion (FC) Health Informatics (HI) Medical Device

Integration (MDI) Solution Owner (SO), has responsibility and oversight of the effective integration and operation of all medical devices/equipment that will be interfacing with MHS

GENESIS throughout the full lifecycle of the EHR.  The SO requires support services throughout all phases and stages of MHS GENESIS to ensure the clinical requirements throughout the life cycle of MHS GENESIS and ensure effectiveness, suitability, and interoperability. A critical

MHS Genesis success factor is the proper management of medical device integration in conjunction with MHS Genesis deployment worldwide. The SO requires Medical Device

Integration services to help ensure optimal healthcare delivery continues across the MTFs, associated with the MHS GENESIS deployment. 

4) Responsibilities: Provide enterprise oversight (as part of a team) and workflow integration support services support for full life-cycle MDI services associated with MHS GENESIS program.

  • Provide direct support to the MDI Solution Owner (MDI SO) assisting in the coordination and oversight of all components, tasks and activities of MDI activities including Pre-MTF Go-Live (Planning, Coordination, and Assessment), Go-Live

Implementation, Verification and Validation (V&V), Functional Verification, and Post

Go-Live Sustainment.

  • Provide SME support and/or recommendations regarding MDI solution implementation and maintenance supporting medical device integration requirements.
  • Provide advisement and guidance for Medical Device (MD) procurement/planning as it pertains to MD implementation and integration; to include connectivity devices (terminal services) and other middleware systems to ensure standardized implementations are maintained.
  • Collaborate with DHMSM/Leidos Partnership for Defense Health (LPDH), Veterans

Administration (VA) MDI key personnel, DHA Solution Owner Stakeholders, and MTF

Level customers to advise and brief MHS Leadership regarding MDI enterprise environment challenges, issues, and future state.

  • Present findings, recommendations, and results as required to government forums, representatives and senior leadership for MDI related recommendations and way forward.
  • Assist with Virtual/Tele-Health and associated telemedicine integration efforts impacting

MDs and associated systems integrated for MHS Genesis EHR. Perform necessary

DELTASTRAC, LLC research and analysis to identify Limiting Factors (LIMFACs) associated with system implementations, up-keep, to include V&V of implementation.

  • Maintain the master list of MHS Governance approved Equipment Control Numbers

(ECNs) from LOGICOLE / Joint Medical Asset Repository (JMAR) containing medical device specifications.

  • Perform activities that document ECNs which are connected legacy systems and not connected to legacy systems. Capture any constraints or additional considerations identified.
  • Conduct analysis of ECNs to determine potential criteria for interfacing with MHS

Genesis.

  • Assist with development and maintaining of an adjudicated list of medical devices and associated systems for final medical device integration planning.
  • Coordinate with J-3 HTM MEDLOG to support the update and maintenance of the MDI

Baseline Listing maintained by J-3 Cyber LOG.

  • Support MTF / MDI Go-Live implementation teams’ preparation for MDI activities and readiness of MDs and associated systems for implementation including facilities, training, networks, resources, and setup.
  • Provide consultation for Go Live activities including MDI issue resolution assistance, quality assurance, implementation.
  • Support additional coordination of training activities required during go-live MDI implementation.
  • Document lessons learned, evaluation/assessment of MDI Go-live consultation engagement and incorporate as part of future pre-Go-Live assessment considerations.

5) Additional Requirements a) Education: Graduate of the DoD Biomedical Equipment Technician Program or possess an Associate degree in Biomedical Electronics Technology or equivalent from an accredited institution or an associate degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent from an accredited institution b) Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET), Certified Radiography

Equipment Specialist (CRES), or Certified Laboratory Equipment Specialist (CLES). c) Four (4) or more years of relevant work experience in medical equipment management i.e., maintenance and management of medical, dental, and diagnostic imaging equipment. d) MHS experience as a Senior BMET in one of the 3 services; preferably SNCO retired e) Familiar with Military Instructions, Composition & Development in writing MHS documentation to support DHA. f) Comfortable with concepts surrounding medical devices, network integration of medical devices, policy, strategy and/or guidance g) Familiar with legacy systems such as Innovian or Essentris; and/or with proper experience MHS GENESIS integrated medical devices.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
