What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assisstant Body Shop Manager position at DeMaagd GMC Nissan?
This position supervises the daily operation of the body shop, including directing the work of and supervising body shop technicians, painters, and porters.
Primary Responsibilities and Functions:
- Supervise activities of the body shop to ensure vehicles are repaired and painted to meet DeMaagd Collision Center standards and customer or insurance service level agreements and requirements.
- Purchase equipment, materials and supplies for the body shop and oversee maintenance and protection of shop equipment.
- Provide and maintain safe work environment by explaining, monitoring and enforcing required auction safety procedures and complying with OSHA requirements. Facilitate safety training for shop employees.
- Supervise the completion of work order forms to ensure accurate vehicle records. Approve and forward bills and invoices to accounting department for timely billing.
- Work with Body Shop Manager to maintain and develop body shop staff and their professional and technical knowledge by orienting, and training employees, and by providing educational opportunities.
- Counsel and discipline employees as necessary. Plan, monitor and evaluate job performance, and conduct performance appraisals.
- Prepare estimates for collision repair.
- Supervise the flag pay process and review spreadsheets for accuracy. Coordinate error resolution through payroll as necessary.
- Review work volumes, plan and continuously monitor staffing levels to ensure efficiency, quality work product, and effective customer service; review departmental performance against key performance indicators and metrics and develop and execute strategies for improvement.
- Enforce all company policies and procedures related to employee and customer conduct.
- Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such. Work in cooperation with safety leadership in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 or more years’ experience in automotive or body shop preferred
- 2 years of Supervising or Managing teams preferred
- Good communication and interaction skills, competent management and organizational skills required.
- Strong computer and software knowledge, including Mithcell, and CCC.
- Valid Driver’s License and good driving record required.
- Ability to lift 1-30 pounds (light hand tools, etc.) Manual dexterity, repetitive motion tasks.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
