What are the responsibilities and job description for the Attorney position at Denbury?
Denbury Inc. is currently recruiting for an Attorney to join our corporate headquarters in Plano, Texas. The Attorney will participate in and contribute to a broad range of corporate transactions, including transactions related to upstream and midstream oil and gas, CCUS and ESG, and other general corporate/industry operations. Additionally, this Attorney will provide general support for the Legal Department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review, draft and negotiate commercial agreements, including CCUS transactions, oil and gas leases, sales and transportation agreements, gathering and processing agreements, supply chain contracts, purchase and sale agreements, joint venture agreements, joint operating agreements, drilling services agreements and other industry-specific agreements
- Research legal and regulatory issues related to CCUS and the upstream and midstream oil and gas businesses
- Provide practical legal advice and support on business matters
- Work with and advise supervising attorneys and business clients
- Engage and direct outside counsel as necessary
- Provide guidance and practical solutions for various corporate policies
- All other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree and J.D. from an ABA accredited school
- Licensed to practice law and in good standing in a U.S. jurisdiction
- Four or more years of legal experience in oil & gas or natural resources
- Experience with corporate law and related issues
- Flexibility and comfort with changing priorities
- Proven ability to work independently
- Ability to support multiple clients, priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to confidently interact with colleagues and adversaries and to translate difficult legal issues into practical business solutions
- Ability to travel as needed
Environmental & Physical Demands
Work will primarily be conducted in an office environment; travel may be required to district and field offices and/or oil and gas production facilities, with the occasional need to wear personal protective equipment. Position requires the ability to frequently communicate information and to manage the possible stress of an office environment. Work may include being stationary for long periods of time, with occasional movement about the office. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds is required. Position requires constant operation and viewing of a computer screen and other office machinery.
