Host

A Host/Hostess at Denny’s plays a special role for our guests. You are often their first impression and last impression, and we count on you to sincerely make them feel at home – every time!

The Host or Hostess greets guests in a warm, friendly, smiling manner that welcomes them into our restaurant and sets the stage for a positive dining experience. A Denny’s Host or Hostess has a “Guests First” attitude, engaging in friendly conversation with guests as you perform duties such as:

• Greeting and seating guests, inviting them to come back and see us again.
• Suggesting new menu items from our limited time offerings.
• Receiving payment and making correct change.
• Assisting with beverages like bold, signature or flavored coffees.
• Cleaning, completing side work, and organizing supplies as needed.
• Willingly assisting other team members without being asked.
• Providing total guest satisfaction.

Requirements:

Experience – This is an entry level position. Previous experience is preferred but not required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – Must obtain Food Safety Certification within first 60 days of employment. Requires ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work well with diverse groups of people; has good organization and planning skills. Ability to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply); and work effectively in a team environment. Is a self-starter who takes initiative and willingly accepts responsibility. Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior.

Physical Requirements – Ability to stand and walk approximately 90%-95% of shift; Ability to operate a cash register and to lift and carry 15-25 lbs; ability to move freely throughout the restaurant; Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment and perform multiple tasks at once. Regular and prompt attendance is required for this position.
