Life Science Facilities Engineer ™

Job Description:

Working in dynamic multi-tenant Life Science buildings and reporting to the Facility Director, successful candidate will coordinate and/or perform the preventive maintenance and corrective repairs of utility systems, equipment, and grounds. Working under limited supervision, monitors building system operations and performance with complete oversight of building automation system.  Leads maintenance staff, contractors and employees as designated. Provides best-in-class customer service.

General Duties:

  • Complies with all applicable codes, regulations and corporate policies/procedures related to building operations, project management, and work safety.
  • Manages computer based maintenance management system.
  • Manages and/or performs assigned corrective work orders and preventive maintenance.
  • Manages and/or performs grounds keeping activities including, but not limited to snow removal (grounds, halls, loading docks, etc.)
  • May manage and coordinate third party quotes, repairs and service maintenance.
  • Responds to client and/or tenant requests for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, wastewater and construction needs.
  • Analyzes mechanical and operational problems of assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action.
  • Manages record-keeping activities as required.
  • Other tasks as directed.

General Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Engineering preferred.
  • 10 years of relevant experience with building management control systems (i.e. Johnson Controls, Tridium, Siemens, etc.)
  • 10 years in supervisory/managerial roles relating to project management and overseeing teams of employees.
  • Strong knowledge of air handling systems, heating systems and exhaust systems desired.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to clearly and positively communicate with owners, tenants, vendors and/or customers.
  • Ability to read building codes, blue prints and drawings.
  • Demonstrated computer competencies.
  • Must possess a current and valid driver’s license.

Physical Qualifications:

  • Ability to stand, crouch, and climb a ladder to perform repairs various types of manual labor.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

On-Call Status:

  • Availability for 24/7 On-Call schedule required.

Travel:

  • Ability to travel between site locations as required.
