Job Description
The Studio Business Manager is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and administering the business processes of the creative studio. This role will work in support of the Head of Studio, helping to develop a clearer business picture which will garner greater insight into the directional growth of the studio from a local brand to a broader based network resource while helping to understand our ability to offshore projects.
Drive freelance process with support from Studio Directors
- Maintain database
- Process new requests
- Follow through with on-boarding
- Ensure timekeeping and submission of timesheets on deadline
Administer job management
- Open job numbers
- Obtain bids from Studio Director and create estimates
- Track jobs through production
- Coordinate billing with support from Studio Directors
- Final bill and close jobs
Manage monthly financial statements
- Download accrual reports from studio systems
- Verify retainer transfers are happening
- Review all reports with Head of Studio prior to submitting to commercial finance
Develop monthly P&L
- Work with controllership/commercial finance to obtain all necessary information to prepare P&L
- Analyze and review P&L with Head of Studio
Generate yearly forecast
- Partner with commercial finance and Head of Studio to gather information to create yearly forecast
- Update team on monthly tracking against forecast
Qualifications
- 3 years’ experience in a financial environment, preferably a production studio
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously
- Independent, self-starter with problem solving skills
- Ability to prioritize and maintain a calm demeanor in a fast paced studio environment
- Detail oriented and meticulous
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Nexelus Financial Management system and Workfront is a plus
