Salary Range: $40,626 - $48,752/year

Essential Functions and Objectives:
Creates educational materials for students who are blind/visually impaired so that they are able to receive an appropriate education alongside their sighted peers.
Transcribes print materials into Braille for students who are Blind/Visually Impaired.- Transcribes math and science materials into Nemeth and science Braille codes.
- Creates tactile/auditory versions of a variety of student educational materials which are presented visually.
Transcribes all national, state and district exams into proper Braille codes, as necessary.
Coordinates and works effectively with co-workers, site staff, and diverse student populations.
Works with students who are Visually Impaired inside and outside of their assigned classrooms.
Learns to use/understand student technology and assists in keeping data on student progress.
Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:
One (1) or more years related work experience.- Ability to use a variety of Braille translation software to transcribe print materials into Braille, including, but not limited to, Duxbury, Braille 2000, Scientific Notebook and Math Type.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Works collaboratively with others.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to create tactile learning materials and to use equipment necessary to create these learning materials.
- Knowledge of Nemeth Braille Code.
- Knowledge and use of various Braille Embossers.
- Familiarity with science, music, and foreign language Braille codes.
- Knowledge of EBAE and UEB Braille codes used with correct formatting for Literary Braille.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
