Health Resource Analyst I – Public Health Data and Evaluation Coordinator
The Health Resource Analyst I is a full-time contracted position with the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health; Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (MCAH) Section and Office of Analytics located in Carson City, Nevada. This position will support the Nevada Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Program. This position will work closely with the EHDI Coordinator, the manager of the Office of Analytics, the EHDI Follow-up Coordinator, a contracted audiology consultant, and support staff. This position will play a key role in fulfilling the following:
· Play a lead role in the EHDI database system by collecting, compiling, cleaning, linking/matching, as well as importing and exporting large datasets to/from the state’s Vital Records System (VRS).
· Use Excel and SAS to develop, edit and run processes to automate and prepare concise and accurate monthly, quarterly, annual, customized, and ad hoc data reports for the EHDI team, stakeholders, and federal funders.
· Provide technical assistance to hospitals, midwives, audiologists, and other data reporting entities, providing information on regulations and proper procedures in collecting and submitting data.
· Assisting the EHDI team to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programmatic activities; develop goals, objectives, program requirements and procedures; establish performance indicators and benchmarks to evaluate program effectiveness; develop quality assurance measures which adhere to agency, statute, and federal standards and guidelines.
· Assist the EHDI team in its quality improvement and evaluation efforts.
· Participate in the Nevada EHDI Stakeholder Committee as a formal member.
· Assist with preparation of federal funding requests, grant award management activities, and reporting requirements.
· In collaboration with other EHDI staff, complete the annual CDC Hearing Screening and Follow-up Survey in compliance with CDC requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in the health sciences, public health, public administration, social sciences, or closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (required at the time of application):
General knowledge of: descriptive statistics and research methods utilized to analyze health-related data and implement health planning activities; program evaluation methods and techniques; writing skills sufficient to develop narrative reports and instructional materials. Ability to: assist with evaluation methods and techniques; collect, analyze, and interpret data; prepare reports and grant applications; assimilate a large volume of information and write concise, well written, logical summaries of the issues and analytical reports on health programs, facilities and services; negotiate and exchange ideas and information with others to formulate policies and programs and/or arrive jointly at decisions or solutions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers as well as those persons or groups who are effected by agency actions; work with interruptions; prepare reports and assist with grant applications;
Experience with Microsoft Excel. Excel skill set should include filtering, sorting, conditional formatting, find and replace, charts/tables, auto-fill, and basic pivot table knowledge. Experience with SAS or similar analytic software is highly preferred.
