Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and / or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
GS-05 : Four (4) years of education above high school OR one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level performing the following type of work and / or tasks :
Performing clerical work such as preparing, receiving, reviewing and verifying documents; Maintaining office records; Locating and compiling data or information from files and other data sources;
Preparing vouchers and other financial documents.
GS-06 : One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level performing the following type of work and / or tasks :
Creating a variety of correspondence in proper formats using word processing programs; Maintaining manual and electronic calendars to add, delete, or change meetings;
Processing a wide variety of budgetary transactions; Serving as a receptionist or point-of-contact for an office; and performing data entry into an automated timekeeping system.
GS-07 : One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-06 grade level performing the following type of work and / or tasks :
Managing calendars and meeting schedules for higher level staff; Performing specialized office tasks in support of a unit including screening training requests;
Compiling information from a variety of sources to prepare reports; Processing a wide variety of budgetary transactions.
PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS
In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants for this position must show possession of the following skills, as appropriate.
Applicants may meet this requirement by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificate by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency.
40 words per minute typing speed. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3-years. Agencies may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test :
40 words per minute typing speed (words per minute are based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors)
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements : Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.
Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
