WHAT YOU WILL DO (in part)
- Review individuals’ case documents and records to determine if a child support order is needed;
- Contact agency customers and other service providers to gather information to assist in establishing paternity and to establish and enforce child support orders;
- Establish, modify, enforce, and provide accounting records for child support orders by deciding needed action;
- Apply federal laws, Oregon laws and rules, agency policies and procedures;
- Verify payments are properly disbursed;
- Verify accuracy of any State agency claims against child support;
- Request, review and evaluate declarations of parentage to initiate action. Complete and file legal documents to establish paternity. Process modification requests;
- Gather wage and health care information, research and apply child support guidelines to calculate support obligation;
- Use a variety of laws, guidelines, policies and procedures relating to child support to analyze information, calculate support obligations, and ensure correct application of monies to child support cases.

REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Three years of experience working with the public in person or by phone giving information about services and programs and solving customer problems/complaints. Experience must include the use of personal computers and typical software such as word processing.
A Bachelor's Degree may substitute for the above experience. To receive credit for a degree, you must attach a photocopy of your transcripts to your application.
Work experience is based on a 40-hour work week. (Example: 20 hours a week for one year would equal six-months of work experience.)
Child Support Case Manager-Entry employees are placed in the Child Support Case Manager classification (C5129 (21) - $3482 - $5056 monthly with PERS contribution) upon successful completion of trial service and meeting the minimum qualifications of Child Support Case Manager.
Current Child Support Case Managers with the Oregon Division of Child Support, who are selected for placement, will be processed as lateral transfers.

Working Conditions
Work in an open office environment with noise from ringing telephones, walk-in traffic, printers, telephone conversations, copiers, and other office equipment. Manage a large computerized caseload through work done by understanding and interpreting multiple computer program screens for long periods of time; changing quickly from one screen, program, data base and case type to another; coordinating the data; recalling the differences and similarities; and applying legal principles. Deal in a professional manner with parties who are irate, emotionally distraught and sometimes hostile or verbally abusive. Work on many detailed tasks at once and dealing with frequent interruptions and changes, including computer downtime, meetings, training sessions, frequent changes in forms and procedures due to changes in laws, rules, and policies, and incoming calls and walk-in visitors. Occasional in-state travel for trainings and meetings, at times, involving an overnight stay.
