Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Division of Law Enforcement’s (DLE), Office of the Chief Staff Services Manager (SSM) II, the CAS directs and supervises the activities of DLE’s Southern Regional Evidence and Resource Management Unit located in San Diego, Riverside and Commerce. The Evidence and Resource Management Unit is responsible for property and evidence management including the maintenance of chain of custody, proper receipt, identification, and preservation of evidence submissions, appropriate release/transfer of evidence, tracking and records management for the Bureaus of Firearms, Gambling Control and Investigation. The CAS will maintain knowledge of Departmental policies and procedures related to evidence control and direct ongoing training and optimization of the Statewide Evidence and Resource Management Unit.

This is a 12-month Limited Term, however it may be extended and/or become permanent.

Statement of Qualifications - Provide a written narrative (i.e., no lists, bullets, or tables) for each question in separate, clearly labeled sections. 1. Describe a time when you provided leadership to a team or group working towards a common goal. What leadership skills were important for ensuring that the team accomplished their goal? How would your management style promote your success if you were hired as the Crime Analyst Supervisor?

2. What experience, education, and training do you have related to asset and/or evidence management? Explain your understanding of the chain of custody and/or your familiarity with any asset and/or evidence management policies and procedures.
