The Highlights
The Accounting Assistant, under the supervision of the Senior Accountant, supports the Financial Services department in processing financial and operational transactions. The Accounting Assistant reviews expense transactions as an auditor, ensuring compliance with University policies, and processes payment transactions and invoices in collaboration with other Financial Affairs personnel. This position will help explore opportunities to improve and document processes within Financial Services. This position is primarily remote, although the employee may have to report to campus for administrative reasons.

- Expense Auditing (Corporate Credit Card and Cash Reimbursement Requests): Perform detailed review of individual expense transactions, applying an in-depth understanding of University policies, and communicating with University faculty and staff to obtain any missing documentation or to resolve open questions before approval within Oracle Cloud system.
- Transaction Processing with Accounts Payable: Develop in-depth understanding of Oracle Cloud system, General Ledger account codes, and supporting organizational processes to promptly and accurately code invoices and payment requests.
- Financial Reporting and Ad Hoc Projects: Under supervision of Senior Accountant, assist with preparing various financial reports and performing analyses for both supported University areas and for internal Financial Services use.
- Auxiliary Support of Financial Transactions for University Areas: Assisting Financial Services team with various transactions by executing reporting queries upon request, investigating data and testing solutions within Oracle Cloud system, and drafting transactions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Your Education & Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor's degree is required, accounting or finance degree is preferred.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Accounting, Audit, or Finance is preferred.
- Oracle Cloud ERP Ledger experience is preferred.
Financial Responsibilities
- Dollar Amount - The Accounting Assistant is responsible for participating in processes and transactions for college and division operating and capital budgets totaling in the range of $100 million.
- Contacts - This position has frequent contact with college and division staff, the Controller's Office, Human Resources, and other support areas.
- Payments - This position reviews and processes approved payment requests (i.e., reimbursement and corporate credit card payments) for the University.
- Information - This position requires access to information that is considered confidential. This may include employee, student, or university information.

- Self-motivated, able to work in changing environment;
- Intermediate spreadsheet, database and word processing skills.
