$1,000 SIGN-ON BONUS! DePaul Properties leads the movement to ensure residents thrive in safe, healthy, and affordable housing. We do this through advocacy, strategic communication, and mobilization. This position will provide leadership to ensure the DePaul Properties sites operate as a strong and effective organization. District Director for DePaul Properties oversees daily operations of all affordable housing apartment communities in the DePaul Portfolio. DePaul Properties offers rental housing to income eligible tenants and persons with special needs. The District Director (DD) will maintain compliance laws as defined by each governing program related to each site.
Responsibilities
- Ensures Compliance with Fair Housing and Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Ensures selection of new tenants is in accordance with the Tenant Selection Plan
- HUD/LIHTC guidelines governing all areas including leasing, certification, and recertification processes, waiting lists, transfers, and site maintenance.
Qualifications
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree. Three (3) years’ experience in management of not for profit, with work experience in housing mandatory. Section 8 / Affordable Housing Tax experience expected. Three (3) or more years’ experience in multi-family property management, including direct supervision of other. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to perform in a busy, changing, multi-tasking work environment. Strong attention to detail. Requires ability to travel to multiple sites across the state, work with diverse staff team, manage physical plants, monitoring compliance with fair housing law as well as all state, federal, investor and internal regulations and policies. Requires ability to read, speak and comprehend English language. Requires ability to use American Sign Language or willingness to learn it. Requires a clean, valid NYS driver’s license, an insured vehicle, and the ability to travel (on call, emergencies, trainings, etc., as needed).
SKILLS: Motivated personality, demonstrates professionalism, self-starter, excellent ability to communicate. Is an active listener, has negotiation skills, flexible attitude, and demonstrates leadership. Has experience with Tax Credit Low Income Housing and working with Investors. Experience in working with communities and capable of training staff teams. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams, Smartsheet, NODUS, Excel, YARDI, or other equivalent software preferred. Ability to learn accounting software essential. Person must be considerate and respectful when interacting with others and work well under pressure.
