Job Duties
This position will work between the hours of 7:00 PM and 3:30 AM.
The admissions Coordinator is responsible for carrying out the screening process to determine if individuals meet the criteria for admission to Piedmont Geriatric Hospital. The admission Coordinator's job is highly interactive, and he/she acts as a critical link between internal and external customers. The admissions Coordinator works with other staff members such as physicians, nursing supervisors, and unit staff to carry out these tasks. The incumbent must communicate effectively with community stakeholders, including but not limited to, the Community Services Boards (CSB) and private providers, as well as effectively manage competing demands.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of functioning of the hospital and community mental health systems.
Knowledge of Virginia Prescreening procedures and Virginia statutes related to ECOs and TDOs.
Knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses, medical terms, and medical procedures, in order to communicate effectively with clinicians.
Ability to work in a stressful environment where discretion and clinical decisions must be made quickly to coordinate services.
Demonstrated computer skills; experience using a computer in a health care setting. · Strong organizational and problem-solving skills required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to work well with others.
Ability to be on call after-hours and on weekends to fulfill the organization’s requirements (e.g., admissions on call).
Experience in the field of Admissions required.
