Position Summary:
Provides histologic services to aid in the diagnosis of cell pathology.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Prepares tissue specimens and serologic studies for pathologic diagnosis and teaching purposes.
2. Prepares accurate reports for logging in and processing of specimen tissues in the laboratory.
3. Performs high quality histological preparations to aid in pathological diagnosis.
4. Maintains equipment and supplies in a clean and sterile condition to avoid contamination of reagents and solutions.
5. Performs tissue embedding in paraffin, cutting, sectioning, staining, and mounting on slides.
6. Responds to emergency situations.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) certification.
Minimum Education:
High school degree or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
One year of directly related experience.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
