The Associate Director, Strategic Data Management will play a key role in shaping and executing a short- and long-term strategy for the data warehouses within Dermavant and the business data within. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and governing the Enterprise DataHub platform including overall platform architecture (Azure & ancillary data platforms for different departments of Dermavant), DevOps, DataOps, and security/monitoring.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in designing and developing data solutions for within the life sciences industry (heavy emphasis on Commercialization and Supply Chain) with special focus on architecture, data strategy, process optimization & data security.

Responsibilities

  • Seve as a thought leader, championing industry best practices solutions with approaches to curation, aggregation, and security for corporate data.
  • Evaluate and learn new technologies through research and POC build outs to realize the Data & Analytics Vision.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to define data analytics platform architecture including ingestion, processing, orchestration, DataOps, Data management, data lake frameworks, and SLA's.
  • Lead development team for Analytics Platform architecture delivery and responsible for the quality of technical deliverables.
  • Interact extensively and regularly with external data engineering, data warehousing, data science, data visualization, developers, and project teams to advance the enterprise data architecture as part of all relevant analytics projects.
  • Define key processes for data management, data consumption & reporting/analysis.
  • Support all key stakeholders for the DataHub with relevant data needs, ensuring the security of the solution.
  • Ensures all critical data platform activities and services meet defined SLAs and uptime requirements.
  • Identification and improvement of data platform related activities and architectures.
  • Identifies and leads team focused on continuous improvement and optimization of platform architecture and efficiency.
  • Maintains a breadth of knowledge in Azure data services and related architectural patterns.
  • Hire, coach and train team members, growing them from a technical perspective to increase the quality of deliverables.
  • Adheres to applications security procedures, change control guidelines and coding structures, Sarbanes-Oxley IT and business requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • 10 years of relevant experience in implementing enterprise data analytics platforms, specifically
    • 6 years of Life Science Industry experience in a senior position leading team on the delivery of data analytics architecture accounting for logical, technical, and security related components.
    • 4 years cloud data platform experience in AWS or Azure (Azure preferred. Some of the services of interest are Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Data Factory, and Microsoft Power BI.
  • Experience with big data systems and a solid understanding of distributed data processing and storage along with corresponding designs.
  • Experience in managing key stakeholders & setting up security design for the data platform(s).
  • Understanding of systems development lifecycle, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Understanding of Cloud Networking, DevOps, DataOps, CI/CD processes.
  • Results oriented, high energy, inspirational and self-motivated leader with strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills being capable of presenting complex technical designs in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
