High School Science Teacher Vacancies

New to the Profession and Experienced Teachers are encouraged to apply for positions starting immediately, January 2024, or for the 2024-2025 school year. Please indicate your availability on your application.

Required Licensure/Endorsement:
Valid Iowa teaching license with the appropriate endorsement.
Candidates willing to obtain conditional licensure in this area will be considered.


Highly Qualified Candidates for the position will also possess:
Previous classroom teaching experience.
Experience in an urban school district.

Salary Information:
Beginning teacher salary $45,392.00
DMPS does not have a cap on number of years experience considered in salary offers for career teachers. 
Newly hired science teachers are eligible for a $5000 hiring bonus.

• Candidates offered employment will be compensated based on skills, work experience and education.

IPERS

• Enrollment in IPERS (Iowa Public Employee Retirement System)--a defined benefit plan

1. Single and Family Health Insurance at no cost to the employee during the first plan year of employment (July 1 - June 30). Premium cost is $600/year after that.
   1. Employees can earn up to $600/year via participation in the Healthy U program.

2. Current Monthly premiums paid by the district for eligible employees (subject to change effective July 1):

 
3. Single Dental insurance at no cost to the employee.  Family Dental Insurance with a minimal monthly cost ($50 per month for most employees).
4. Family Vision Insurance at no cost to the employee for eligible employees.  Not all employee groups are eligible.
