Job Details: The Network, System Integration and Test Environment (NSITE) is a Government owned, managed, and developed software suite. NSITE is used by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Joint Services, and numerous labs in support of continued testing of systems employed for defense of the United States and our Allies. The NSITE software provides data collection, situational awareness, and analysis capabilities to a wide range of users who benefit from NSITE's ability to act as an independent third-party truth teller. The NSITE team has in-depth experience in Tactical Data Links (TDL), Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Test, Enterprise Information Technology, Software and Systems Engineering and Information Assurance.
The NSITE Product Owner (PO) serves as the customer proxy and acts as the voice of the customer. As a member of an agile team, the PO is responsible for working with program management and other stakeholders, including other POs, to define and prioritize stories in the Team Backlog.
This full-time position will be located in Huntsville, AL, with a potential for up to 10% travel to other locations. Work is on-site at the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration (S3I) Directorate on the Redstone Arsenal, with core work hours of 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each workday.
Duties and responsibilities will include the following:
- Monitors and maintains awareness of the continuously evolving Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) architecture and its proposed future capabilities as it relates to NSITE
- Translates customers' requests and business requirements into a prioritized product backlog, and release plans.
- Develop and maintain key Product Owner artifacts, such as risk mitigation plans and product road maps
- Responsible for maximizing the value produced by the team while managing stakeholders' expectations.
- Advise stakeholders on decisions and recommend corrective actions on Scope/Schedule/ Cost.
- Reports Schedule and Scope statuses periodically.
- Ensures that User Stories meet stakeholders' needs by providing instant feedback during development and demo stages.
- Work closely with the scrum team throughout the development process: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
- Comply with the team's Definition of Done.
- Be ready to answer any product related questions that the team may have.
Required Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience as a product owner in a related field.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills providing you the ability to work on shared projects with developers and testers
- In-depth knowledge of Scrum and Agile Software Development Methodology.
- Solid understanding of all Software Development Lifecycle stages.
- Working knowledge of all Software Test methodologies such as Unit testing, Integration testing, System testing, and Acceptance testing.
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Clearance: Must possess an active Secret clearance or have the ability to obtain one.
Required Education Qualifications:
- BS and 5 years of experience; 4 years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.
Desired Qualifications:
- An active Agile/Scrum professional certification in the following order:
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
- Professional Scrum Product Owner I (PSPO I)
- PMI Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Solid experience with Agile DevOps tools such as Atlassian suite: Jira/Bitbucket/ Confluence, OR Gitlab
