Security Manager
Job Summary:
The Security Manager is responsible for the safety and security of Desert Diamond Arena patrons, employees, and its assets while interacting with patrons, vendors and employees in a courteous and professional manner. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for the performance and conduct of all security officers assigned to the watch for day-to-day 24hr security operations as well as for event security and will coach, train and develop security officers and supervisors. This position is responsible for ensuring implementation of and compliance with all legal and ethical instructions and policies established by ASM or Desert Diamond Arena management.
Responsibilities:
· Oversee the scheduling process of all security officers and supervisors on site, ensuring proper staffing levels for daily 24hr security as well as for event security. Responsible for forecasting staffing needs for each event, including estimates and cost comparisons.
· Complete special projects and other assigned tasks within the guidelines and deadlines set by the Facility’s Director of Event Services.
· Assist in creating and conducting on-going, in-service training for the security personnel assigned to the site, including yearly departmental training as well as the annual Emergency Procedures training
· Perform managerial duties overseeing day-to-day 24hr security operations as well as event security at Desert Diamond Arena
· Monitor the performance, conduct and attendance of security officers and supervisors assigned to the site. Responsible for the quality of the performance, conduct and effectiveness of the entire security team as a cohesive unit assigned to the site.
· Responsible for the professional appearance of the entire security team assigned to the site. Responsible for the quality and accuracy of the all logs and incident reports generated at the site. Oversee the creation and implementation of post orders for the security team on site.
· Oversee safety and security for the key program at the assigned site as well as manage and control the lost and found inventory, arena credentials, proxy access, radio inventory and allocation, and medical equipment.
· Conduct performance appraisal for the Assistant Security Manager
· Oversee the interviewing, hiring, and training process for all security officers and supervisors on site at the arena. Oversee and assist with disciplinary actions for security officers and supervisors as needed
· Oversee the processing of employee payroll/time records
· Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures and security initiatives.
· Create and maintain business relationships with stakeholders and Arena partners including the City of Glendale, Law Enforcement Agencies, and neighboring businesses.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year)
2. A minimum of 5 years of related work experience, with at least two years’ experience supervising a security department
3. Ability to pass a criminal background check and employment verification
4. A basic understanding of the rule of law and relevant penal codes: public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and trespassing.
5. Ability to accept responsibility for the performance and conduct of the entire security team assigned to the site.
6. Ability to represent ASM and the Security Department in an exemplary manner.
7. Leadership skills, with the ability to motivate staff and lead by example.
8. Ability to maintain good business relations with all the employees and managers.
9. Experience managing crises and working under pressure without loss of composure.
10. Ability to interact effectively and calmly with angry or emotional patrons and employees during intensely aggravated circumstances.
11. A good understanding of the guest services and security team role within an arena
12. Ability to create, implement, and present training materials to the department as well as the arena.
