What are the responsibilities and job description for the Claims Specialist position at DeSilva Gates Construction?
DeSilva Gates Construction, Northern California’s established heavy civil engineering contractor, is seeking a Safety Claims Specialist to join our team, in the Dublin office. As a Claims Manager, you will manage incident claims for the family of companies. The ideal candidate would have the ability to provide effective and timely customer service for employees, providers, insurer and clients regarding claims. You will be part of a team of high-performing and highly engaged professionals who work to ensure that Production Risk Management tenets are followed. Our mission is to achieve zero incidents or accidents for our employees and our Company.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Director of Health and Safety, while working with the safety team, responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Manage all incident reports within the family of companies that is DeSilva Gates Construction, to include Workman’s Comp (WC) claims- set up, review and maintain new cases.
- Track progress of “Future Preventative Measures” from incident investigations to completion.
- Ensure timely communication and diligent follow up on claims and with medical offices, hospitals, laboratories, etc. to ensure a quick return to work.
- Understand the safety and labor law requirements and adapt to meet those requirements.
- Communicate clearly, confidently and with a friendly and professional demeanor when having difficult conversations.
- Handle a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Health & Safety.
Qualifications
Required:
- Superior organizational skills with ability to prioritize several key tasks.
- Be team oriented and willing to assist in duties beyond what may be required.
- Effective and efficient communication, both verbally and written. Communicate with competency to ensure effective communication in difficult situations.
- Required to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
Preferred:
- 3-5 years’ experience in in case management, insurance, risk management and other human resource related administrator tasks.
- Undergraduate Degree or equivalent experience (additional experience in lieu of college degree is valuable).
- Paralegal experience is a plus but not required.
- Highly effective problem resolution and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to meet goals in a dynamic environment.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
