Pet Groomer

These services include everything from daycare to boarding, training to grooming, and veterinary care.

We are looking for a groomer to Join Our Pack™ at Exceptional Pets in Green Valley, AZ! This person will provide the highest standards of excellence in all grooming techniques, sanitation, and organization in the grooming area.

REPORTS TO: General Manager

Core Responsibilities:

• Supports the mission, vision and values of Destination Pet
• Constantly ensures the safety, security and well-being of each pet. Handles pets at all times with skill and care. Follows all policies and procedures to ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Consults with clients and complies with all requests so long as it does not compromise the safety and well-being of the pet to ensure customer satisfaction. Always interacts with customers in a warm, friendly and professional manner.
• Maintains all records in an orderly manner.
• Practices timeliness – starts shift on time and finishes pets before promised time.
• Conscientiously performs all aspects of the grooming service to Destination Pet’s expectations of quality.
• Using established procedures, grooms all pets according to client’s reasonable request.
• Works in an organized and hygienic manner. Keeps work area free of hair and clutter, and sanitizes tools and kennels between pets. Ensures that all areas are clean at the end of their shift.
• Understands the purpose of products and uses them appropriately, follows label directions. Assists in maintaining supplies by reporting low levels to supervisor.
• Treats equipment and tools with care. Reports mechanical failures to supervisor in writing and follows up.
• Interacts with supervisor and center associates in such a manner to make sure the salon runs smoothly and meets the highest expectations of service and product quality.
• Always strives to maintain a high level of productivity with safety and quality. Helps meet customer demand by accepting additional grooms when possible.
• Mentors, trains, guides and coaches new less experienced associates.
• Takes every opportunity to suggest beneficial add-on services and retail.
• Takes every opportunity to increase sales by attracting new customers and encouraging referrals by existing customers. Participates in guerrilla marketing.
• Provides appropriate feedback to owners for each pet visit.
• Treats customers, pets and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner; greets all customers encountered while performing work duties.
• Assists other associates as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Expertise & Experience:

• Must be a pet fanatic – pets are part of our family!
• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of certified grooming program preferred.
• Minimum two years of grooming experience.
• Must have ability to resolve problems quickly and professionally.
• Must have ability to supervise, motivate and counsel associates.
• Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to work on computer system and complete written reports.
• Displays a professional manner at all times.
• Must be able to perform breed specific styles on all breeds of dogs.
• Must be able to perform haircuts and baths on all breeds of cats preferred.
• Must be able to perform hand stripping, carding, FURminator service, Asian Fusion and Coloring of pets preferred.
• Mentor and train less experienced staff.

Physical:

• Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Must frequently lift 40 pounds.
• Must be able to be on feet eight hours per day.
• Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs frequently.
• Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
• Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander and excretions.
