Salary Range: $70,000 - $93,629 annually
Reports to: Principal
Bargaining Unit: Organization of School Administrators and Supervisors (OSAS)

Telecommuting Eligibility: School-based. Not eligible for telecommuting.
In accordance with the Agreement between the Organization of School Administrators and Supervisors (OSAS) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced.
Position Summary: The Dean of Culture will create a strong achievement culture in the school aligned to the mission, vision and values of the Detroit Public Schools Community District. The Dean of Culture works closely with the Principal and staff to cultivate an inclusive school environment and employ efforts to create a positive, structured, consistent, caring, and disciplined school culture.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must possess and provide evidence of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- At least two (2) years’ experience working in a K-12 educational setting and/or directly with school aged children
- Must have three (3) years of successful supervisory work experience monitoring and managing student behavior.
- Preferred experience coaching teachers in the areas of classroom management with the end result being increased student achievement.
- Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills required.
- Strong computer experience (Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Essential Functions:
- Create and ensure a culture in which academic achievement is the overarching goal.
- Own the school’s character development and ensure it builds and reinforces positive self-identity and necessary character strengths.
- Lead Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) school-based initiative.
- Partner with parents and families to build authentic school-wide community.
- Coordinate and implement a school-wide behavior management system with meaningful incentives and consequences.
- Work closely and effectively with children who have behavior challenges and their families; partner with school counselors and teachers to execute individualized behavior interventions when needed.
- Facilitate staff trainings on student-teacher relationships, classroom management, parent partnership and school culture.
- Conduct regular school culture walkthroughs to help staff maintain a high bar of excellence.
- Supervise school entry, breakfast, lunch dismissal, and transitions to ensure they are orderly and positive.
- Accurately monitor and analyze daily student attendance, homework and discipline records; create new systems and structures to proactively address school’s areas of need.
- Model and demonstrate servant leadership.
- Prepare status updates and reports to communicate work activities and progress with schools’ team.
- Collaborate with other district offices and departments to improve outcomes for all students.
- Serve as a liaison between principal and Executive Director of School Climate and Culture.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
