A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

The person in this role will be passionate about education and will posses a personable demeanor. The Community Engagement Coorinator is responsible for a multi-generational approach in engaging and conducting outreach to build awareness about the Detroit Promise and Detroit Reconnect. In partnership with other staff, you will work together to increase the number of individuals pursuing a post-secondary education. The role will primarily be in the field, traveling to events, and engaging with community-based organizations throughout Metro Detroit. You will interact with and provide exceptional customer service to diverse audiences. You will build and maintain multiple relationships and manage multiple projects.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

• Associate degree or higher, minimum of three years of experience in community outreach or college advising in communities that serve large numbers of first-generation collegegoers. (Experience in lieu of education will also be considered.)
• Experience with successful college access programs would be extremely beneficial. In an urban community is preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - advanced knowledge and skill level in Excel and PowerPoint preferred.
• Ability to do presentations and public speaking events to promote Detroit Promise and Detroit Reconnect.

• A valid driver's license is required in addition to access to reliable transportation.
• Availability for nights, evenings, and weekend programming is required.

WORK SCHEDULE FOR A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

This position is full-time and typically works Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. The person in this role may need to travel throughout Southeastern Michigan. There are also opportunities to work from home.

**This position is grant funded and will only be maintained as long as the funds are provided by an external source.**
