TITLE: Principal Engineer I
LOCATION: Greenwood Village, CO
JOB SUMMARY: Support, maintain, and troubleshoot Charter’s networks in support of the 24x7 operations environment. Monitor alarms and tools to verify outages and utilization issues. Prioritize, respond, and resolve incidents identified in ticketing queues, email, and telephone calls in compliance with service level agreements. Troubleshoot networking with OSI layers 1-4. Report outages and networks changes and provide written analysis. Serve as a technical escalation point and escalate issues to mitigate customer impact. Assist in the planning, forecasting, implementation, and identification of resource requirements for network systems of moderate complexity. Implement protocol compatibility standards, develop, and implement network enhancements, and make recommendations for improvement. Responsible for network architecture and design. Participate in network planning, network architecture design and engineering. Integrate communication architecture, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations. Evaluate new products and performing network problem resolution. Assist in the development and documentation of technical standards. Implement approved methods of procedures. Implement and assist in designing protocol compatibility standards, developing and implementing network enhancements, and making recommendations for improvement. Work on projects/systems/issues surrounding network planning, configuration, and optimization. Provide tier support across organizations. Configure and troubleshoot video processing and transport/delivery systems, including Linear, VOD/SDV, IPVOD, and Video controllers. Use ticketing and software tools to track, follow up, and resolve reported events including: Remedy, Incident Portal, Jira, and Service Now. Perform IPv4 and IPv6 networking, routing including OSPF, BGP, ISIS, and firewalls and ports. Utilize service delivery protocols including DNS, DHCP, TFTP, and NTP.
EDUCATION/ REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Telecommunications, Computer Systems, or related field. 4 years of experience: configuring and troubleshooting of video processing and transport/delivery systems, including Linear, VOD/SDV, IPVOD, and Video controllers; using ticketing and software tools to track, follow up, and resolve reported events including: Remedy, Incident Portal, Jira, and Service Now; in IPv4 and IPv6 networking, routing including OSPF, BGP, ISIS, and firewalls and ports; and in service delivery protocols including DNS, DHCP, TFTP, and NTP. Remote work allowed up to 1 day a week.
