Roles & Responsibilities:
o Oversee the daily operations of the laboratory
o Coordinate laboratory workflows to maintain efficiency, minimize errors, and meet high-quality standards
o Ensure all lab staff adhere to strict protocols
o Oversee the implementation and management of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and ensure smooth integration with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems for results reporting.
o Lead the process of evaluating and approving new requests from clinics and healthcare providers for EMR system integration. Coordinate with IT teams to ensure that requests align with existing infrastructure.
o Oversee the initiation and management of EMR integration projects, ensuring timely execution and clear communication between the lab and client clinics. Manage project timelines, assign responsibilities, and ensure seamless integration of EMR systems for accurate and efficient test result reporting.
o Ensure the ongoing functionality of integrated EMR systems, addressing any issues that arise post-integration and working with IT teams to make necessary updates or improvements.
o Ensure data security and patient privacy through robust IT systems and compliance with regulations such as HIPAA.
o Implement technology for sample tracking, digital pathology, and automation of lab processes to enhance operational efficiency.
o Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments), CAP (College of American Pathologists), HIPAA for patient privacy, and OSHA for laboratory safety.
o Stay up-to-date with laboratory certification requirements, including maintaining accreditation and licenses.
o Collaborate with the legal team to review, draft, and negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors, healthcare providers, clients, and other third parties involved in laboratory operations. Ensure all contractual obligations align with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
o Coordinate with legal advisors to handle legal risks, such as disputes or regulatory challenges, ensuring the lab operates within all applicable laws.
o Act as a liaison between the departments in the company, ensuring clear communication regarding protocols, and service expectations.
o Address concerns from physicians, clients, and patients regarding test accuracy, turnaround time, and quality control.
o Develop strategies to improve client satisfaction, including faster processing times and enhanced reporting capabilities.
o Regularly monitor and review laboratory performance metrics, including turnaround times, accuracy rates, and client satisfaction levels.
