Remote vs. Onsite:
Preference will be given to candidates who can work 40 hours a week at the DOM office, located in Jackson MS, for the duration of the contract. Alternatively, candidates who travel will be considered, however, they will be required to be in the office, in Jackson, MS, every other week, for the duration of the contract. If candidates are traveling, please propose fully loaded rate.

Description of the job functions the contractor will be expected to perform.
The Medicaid Data Scientist will work with the Division of Medicaid (DOM) data, business, and IT teams on development of advanced reports and analysis of healthcare data, using standardized methods of data analysis and modern reporting tools.
The Data Scientist will:
-Provide technical expertise to further the development of reports as well as evaluate and recommend tools for data reporting and analysis
-Assist in the development of scalable, organization-wide dashboards and reporting
-Utilize DOM claim and clinical data to perform advanced analysis to identify patterns and trends that may only be apparent using state-of-the-art tools and methods
-Work with multiple DOM teams, including both technical and non-technical staff, to develop and document production of reports generated for CMS and other external entities
-Identify possible gaps and recommend solutions for existing data and reporting/analytics solutions
-Review reporting from outside entities as needed to determine whether methods and presentation are sound, accurate, and consistent with DOM expectations
-Assist with data literacy campaigns to educate DOM users on availability of and potential use cases for DOM data
-Participate in various projects to provide expertise from a data and analytics perspective as needed
-Identify and assist with evaluation of project opportunities, risks, and impact to other areas
-Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience
Provide the minimum required skills and/or experience the contractor must possess to qualify for this position. These requirements will be transferred to the Score Sheet and candidates without these requirements reflected on their resume will NOT be presented to the manager for consideration.
7 years working as a data scientist with Information Technology (IT) projects.
3 years' experience working with Medicaid programs to develop organizational data strategy and improve data quality by reinforcing data integrity
3 years' experience with building and developing reports, including working with tools such as the R Project for Statistical Computing, Microsoft Power BI, and other tools
3 years' experience with working with technical and non-technical users of data
3 years' experience communicating, presenting, and teaching both technical and non-technical project members, including in person, at meetings and discussions with project members, etc.
3 years’ experience managing workloads to meet critical timelines and deadlines for IT projects
Preferred/Not Required
Provide any skills/experience that would be helpful for the candidate to possess but not required. Examples: Previous supervisory experience, WebLogic experience helpful, etc.
3 years experience with Healthcare IT projects and healthcare data
3 years experience with Medicaid projects or Healthcare payer projects
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $65.38 - $70.62 per hour
