Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Communications Coordinator
DIVISION: Marketing and Development
SUPERVISOR: Director of Development
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
STATUS: Full - Time
PURPOSE:
The Communications Coordinator will create and manage all internal and external communication on behalf of the Marketing & Development department in regard to monthly and annual agency publications, staff appreciation, events and fundraising initiatives, social media management, and website content. In addition, this position will be responsible for creating print, digital and video media as needed for communication, recruitment, and marketing efforts.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
With department management, development a cohesive communication strategy involving online, print, and broadcast presence for internal and external messaging in DSI and all partner agencies.
Take the lead in executing DSI’s statewide communication strategy.
Implement, maintain, and enforce the agency’s branding strategy.
Develop and maintain the agency’s media library, to include obtaining photos, videos, and audio materials. Maintain agency no-photo lists.
Maintain agency websites, including developing and updating content with input from all parts of the agency while ensuring continuity with the overall agency brand.
Maintain and update all social media pages.
Develop and/or edit the design and content of all agency printed materials. This will include editing and proofreading materials developed by specific internal programs.
Write and distribute all press releases statewide as requested for agency events and news.
With management, develop and implement public relations and marketing plans for agency events.
Develop print materials and advertisements for all agency events.
Maintain press list with accurate information for all statewide contacts.
Analyze and report impact of communications on agency success.
Represent the agency to community groups and at events by staffing an informational table, presenting agency overview, or presenting disability awareness information.
Author and create monthly newsletters and annual reports.
Assist development team with event execution.
Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALITIES:
- Excellent and professional communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to perform budgeting calculation and comparisons.
- Must possess critical thinking skills.
- Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Comply with ethical standards of DSI, FSSA, and other governing bodies.
- Ability to work flexible, non-standard hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED is required.
Two years successful office experience preferred.
Ability to effectively operate equipment such as a scanner and copier and have a working knowledge of computers and related software (i.e. Microsoft Office)
Must possess excellent telephone skills.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
Maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license, insurance on personal vehicle (minimum of PLPD with medical liability coverage), and maintain insurability as defined by the agency liability insurance carrier.
