Devr’s Documentation Team creates written order from the relative chaos and excitement of cutting-edge software development by taking a different approach to how information is chunked and sculpted for audiences. The team is looking to grow with the addition of a mildly sanguine and engaging intermediate technical writer, that is based in Tallahassee for a hybrid-remote workspace.
We are seeking a Technical Writer to:
- Create fundamental to advanced software documentation for a variety of distinct audiences and deliveries
- Create layered documentation discussing all aspects of software
- Break down complex software to establish common experience correlations in documentation
- Perform basic smoke testing for reporting and analysis
- Perform user acceptance testing for documentation quality assurance and understanding
- Be a founding member of the Documentation Team at Devr
The role holder will be responsible for:
- Using VS Code and Dendron to publish Devr documentation, no publishing is done using Microsoft Office
- Protecting the sensitive nature of documentation AND information concerning its intended audience as well as Devr Intellectual Property
- Experimenting with cutting-edge software to deeply define key element and critical component functions and limitations
- Creating uniquely scoped documentation modules, following information mapping principles
- Working with a variety of technical and semi-technical teams to create and grow a dynamic digital documentation library
- Ensuring we maintain a high bar for quality by remaining attentive to documentation bugs and user feedback
- Upholding a positive attitude toward documentation and insights
Successful candidates must demonstrate experience in:
- Understanding of basic software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- A technical background or fluency with software concepts to translate technical to common
- Understanding of defect identity and impact details, to include software or game testing with reporting behaviors
- Leading a small team or project with tracking and reporting
- Troubleshooting in pursuit of a result, even with incomplete or questionable information; examples might be a computer or phone headset configurations, network (router) set-ups with security, computer operating system configuration settings
The successful candidate will be:
- Comfortable collaborating and communicating with developers to ensure documentation requirements are met
- Located in or willing to relocate to the state of Florida, specifically Tallahassee
- Bringing a positive and solution-focused attitude
- Sufficiently aware of blockchain and web-3 developments to demonstrate an interest in the topic and enthusiasm to learn more
- Excited to work in an early-stage start-up
Education and Experience Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in related discipline such as Communications, Training/Education, Business Management, or Information Systems, or the equivalent combination of experience and education
- Related work experience as a contributing writer
- Experience transforming the layout of a document to increase visual appeal, allow easy scanning and at-a glance comprehension
- Experience using a diverse set of software
- Experience with authoring content in markdown and leveraging version control systems such as Git, Mercurial, Subversion, etc.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
