Senior Web Developer

Dewberryis currently seeking a Senior Full Stack Web Developerto joinour Resilience Solutions Group in ourFairfax, VAoffice (note: alternate offices and remote locations may be considered on a case-by-case basis). The role will support federal, state, and local government clients to help them better understand, prepare, and respond to natural disasters, climate change, and sea level rise.

You will gather requirements, design, and write all aspects of our web stack, leveraging React, Go, Postgres, and Docker on AWS infrastructure to build websites and supporting back-end systems such as Batch & Lambda routines, REST APIs, and databases. You will write data munging / cleaning / pipelining routines.

The role fits into an existing team of passionate developers and earth science modelers with backgrounds in hydrology, fluid dynamics, meteorology, computer science, geographic information systems (GIS), environmental science, civil engineering, and statistics. Projects are version-controlled in Git (GitHub). Some projects involve publicly accessible websites and/or open-source codebases. Many projects involve geospatial aspects and interactive maps leveraging vector and raster data.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10 years of experience in web development using ReactJS, NextJS, JavaScript, or TypeScript
• Bachelor's degree or professional experience in computer science, web development, earth sciences, hydrology, fluid dynamics, meteorology, GIS, or statistics

• Proficiency in basics of HTML, CSS, SQL (preferably PostgreSQL), Git, Linux, and Python
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs
• Strong problem solving and persistence
• Professional communication
• Willingness to showcase skills through a portfolio, example apps, or shared code

• Docker: development of images and container orchestration
• GIS programming: GDAL, PostGIS
