Position requires periodic travel, up to 50% of the time. Responsibilities
- Implement and continuously promote Dewberry’s Health and Safety Program throughout areas of responsibility.
- Assist with managing PPE (personal protection equipment) procurement program/s.
- Assist with maintaining company safety performance metrics and developing associated reports.
- Support Operations, Marketing and Construction teams with RFPs and proposal submissions, safety documentation, metrics & indicators compilation, and reviewing subcontractor safety qualification & plans for conformance to both Dewberry and client requirements.
- Assist with managing Dewberry’s medical monitoring, screening, and surveillance programs.
- Develop, implement, and deliver safety training courses related to construction, in person and virtually.
- Assist with monitoring safety training compliance and standardize reporting of status’ to Safety representatives and operational management.
- Conduct project site health & safety inspections.
- Develop AHAs (Activity Hazard Analysis) and APPs (Accident Prevention Plans) for projects.
- Network with Safety representatives and Business Unit Managers to proactively address and resolve any safety program concern/issues.
- Track and investigate injuries and assist with workers compensation claims.
Required Skills & Required Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or any other related field.
- 5-10 years of practical, hand-on experience with managing safety programs for projects.
- Construction safety experience commensurate with the requirements needed to achieve Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST).
- Experience with mechanical, electrical, site civil, roofing systems and trades are required.
- Experience with safety programs related to cranes, bucket trucks, electrical systems and wireless communication systems including utility and tower structures is a plus.
- Completion of 30-hour OSHA General Industry course.
- Experience with Army Corps of Engineers projects (preferably as an SSHO), and training with EM 385-1-1.
- Current certification in first aid and current CPR certification from the American Red Cross (ARC) is a plus.
- Experience in development of Accident Prevention Plans, Activity Hazard Analysis, health and safety plans, and/or other project-specific documentation.
- CAL-OSHA compliance experience required.
- Advanced written communication skills, with ability to transform technical information into meaningful content for internal audiences.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
