Job Title: Associate Chemist

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Duties & Responsibilities:
The incumbent candidate will be responsible for daily sample log in according to standard operating procedures for raw materials delivered to the quality control laboratory. They will also support laboratory operations by preparing solutions needed for the laboratory to perform analytical testing. This person will also be responsible for identification testing utilizing NIR and Raman spectroscopy instrumentation. The candidate will maintain records of all analysis information of assigned materials in laboratory notebooks for permanent file and proper entry of information in laboratory notebooks. The candidate will also evaluate all data obtained from analysis and if discrepancy or deviation occurs, notifies management in a timely manner, and ensure the raw materials meet compendia and/or company standards. Ensure adherence to pertinent aspects of corporate and plant safety programs and adhering to GMP’s, ISO standards, or other regulations and perform special assignments as directed by supervision.
Requirements/Preferences:
Education Requirement(s): Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, or a related 4 year science degree required. Chemistry degree is preferred.
Skill and Competency Requirements: At least 1 year of lab experience required (outside the bachelor’s degree), preferably in pharmaceutical or nutritional industry. Knowledge, practical application, and understanding of analytical chemistry is required to perform the functions of this position. Demonstrated capability for communicating ideas, concepts, and work results effectively to colleagues and supervision. Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated as well as to work collaboratively in a team-based environment is required. Must demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn. Good working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and personal computer skills are required. Competencies required include analytical problem solving, alertness, work within established policies and procedures, commitment to task, decisiveness, effective written and interpretive communication skills, and organization and planning skills.
Preferences: Experience with NIR/Raman spectroscopy and wet analytical methods common to the USP (identification). Working knowledge of statistics, data processing, and good manufacturing practices is desirable along with an understanding of the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) testing procedures.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $30.00 - $34.00 per hour
