Job Purpose - Oversee operations for all Production, Sanitation, and Maintenance personnel in conjunction with the production floor with focus on Safety, Quality and Efficiency. Comply with current good manufacturing practices. To ensure the smooth running of the daily production process. To ensure that all products are produced to the specified specifications. Targets and deadlines are met to achieve the orders. To ensure that all direct staff comply with the company’s Health and Safety procedures.
Direct Responsibilities
- Supervise and guide mechanics to manage packaging equipment such as labeling equipment, filling lines, conveyors, stretch and plastic wrap machines in a way that maximizes uptime by timely completion of preventive maintenance and maintaining equipment in the original state.
- Supervise, guide and ensure good communication is given to all staff on production floor concerning the daily schedule, safety goals, quality issues and achievement of KPIs.
- Ensure production lines are properly set up in a timely manner by assuring lines are set up of an on-time start including the completion of the start-up checklist and safety orientation for each workstation.
- Implement and control the production schedule and communicate any schedule impact to planning in a timely manner.
- Follow and enforce all established policies, procedures and recognized practices
- Track and report Labor and production line efficiencies in a timely manner
- Monitor, measure and report on production related process performance, general issues
- Determine human resources needed for production needs
- Ensure that the standards of operation, safety and GMP policies are adhered to on daily basis
- Practice a continuous improvement strategy to improve production line performance, elimination of waste, batch turn times based on a pareto of cost, downtime or capacity.
- Take responsibility of the quality and the product that is produced within the shifts in line with the company’s quality systems, processes and procedures
- Ensure efficient collaboration and coordination between relevant departments for production and new projects
- Hires, trains, evaluate and discharge staff
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
- Mechanical expertise with packaging experience
- College background preferred and/or related industry experience.
- 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role
- Demonstrated leadership skills and knowledge in manufacturing environment
- Computer proficiency
- On the job training and instruction by management will be given.
- Familiar with lean manufacturing
- Six Sigma green belt is a plus
- Familiar with predictive and preventive maintenance
