D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Jr. Credit Underwriter. The right candidate will be responsible for the underwriting of conventional loans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Participate in training program designed to learn all facets of conventional underwriting
Underwrite and make credit decisions on loans received daily that have been assigned by the Underwriting Manager
Be proficient in conventional guidelines and corresponding investors
Prioritize RUSH’s and newly submitted loans to meet the required turn-around time
Perform loan decisioning functions in the Loan Origination System (Encompass)
Prior to declining a loan, submit it to the Underwriting Manager for an in-depth second review. If Underwriting Manager concurs with decision to decline, notify the branch
Maintain frequent contact with the Processors, Loan Officer Assistants, Mortgage Loan Originators and Branch Managers
Review conventional appraisals when applicable
Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
Ability to work overtime
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
One to two years of experience in the mortgage industry
Ability to effectively communicate using strong written and verbal skills
Ability to multitask and provide attention to detail
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
Proficiency with MS Office and email
Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
The noise level is generally moderate
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university a plus
