Job Description

The Clinical Diabetes Research program is seeking one research laboratory technologists to provide scientific and technical support for clinical research. The applicants must have BA or associate degree with 1-2 years of clinical laboratory experience. The applicants will work independently with supervision from lab directors. The Research that the PDs conduct involves human studies of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, translational integrated physiology. The incumbent’s responsibilities will include analyzing plasma and urine samples labeled with isotopes of glucose, cortisol, glucagon to enhance knowledge of pathophysiology of diabetes as part of federally funded research. General lab organization and blood processing with basic lab techniques. The incumbent will work under supervision of Lab Principal investigators and the lab manager.

Preference will be given to candidates with a degree in biochemistry or organic chemistry.

This position is restricted and contingent on continued funding. You should have good technical skills and be able to work with accuracy and speed. The goal is to contribute to the delivery of high-quality care by accurately carrying out routine laboratory procedures in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • A minimum of BA with Chemistry/Bio-chemistry or equivalent preferred

Experience in a laboratory environment is preferred. A minimum of 2 years experience in computer use required. Strong communication skills (written and oral) and organizational skills with attention to detail. Diabetes Research Unit is an equal opportunity employer.
