Controller

Duties/Responsibilities/Oversight:

The controller will be responsible for overseeing the functions of the finance department and staff including, but not limited to the following:

• Collaborates with senior leadership on the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
• Track return on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
• Works with external auditors and accountants on tax and audit matters. 
• Ensures department KPIs are met and is the scorecard owner for the department.
• Mentor, coach, train and develop direct reports.
• Monintor and reconcile accounts.
• Oversight of general liability, work comp, credit insurance renewals and license renewals.
• Manage and maintain fully staffed department.
• Oversight of IRA and 401k Plans.
• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize errors and risks.
• Collaborates with Sr. Management in developing annual budget.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Masters in Accounting or Business Administration.  
• 8 years experience in managining financial teams.  
• Excellent knowledge of business management, leadership, analytical, communication and computer skills (including but not limited to Quickbooks, Excel, Word and Outlook).
• Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of practical problems; deal with many variables and determine a specific course of action.
• Prior accounting management in a scrap industry a plus.
